Diving in Puerto Galera

Puerto Galera an amazing destination for scuba diving considered one of the most beautiful and developed beach resort community in the country.

There are a lot of diving destinations in the Philippines. One of them is Puerto Galera and is included in the list of the “Club of the Most Beautiful Bays of the World” and is among the top diving destinations in the Philippines and in Asia.

Located in the part of Oriental Mindoro about 130 kilometers (81 mi) south of  Manila. It is mainly accessible from the Southern Luzon port of Batangas which is acting as a gateway to the city. The short distance from Manila means cheap transport and more fun time on the beach

This coastal town has a number of pocket beaches, snorkeling, and scuba diving spots. UNESCO has designated the area as a Man and Biosphere reserve for it does have most diverse coral reef diving in Asia during 1973.

Puerto Galera is a soothing vision of shimmering seas surrounded by lush mountains. It has an active nightlife with bars and restaurants aside from its beautiful beaches.

Sabang Beach is the main destination for foreign tourists and local travelers.Entertaining the tourist is what Sabang can do. When the lights go down the town comes to life. There is a number, which tends to close down just as quickly as they pop up. Generally, they have a number of girls pole dancing and fire exhibitions with music.

White Beach has an uncontrolled development of infrastructures since 2001 and until present. New restaurants and places to stay are encroaching on the beach itself. The town proper has relatively few attractions. It has a large central Catholic church and a pier area with some dining outlets. It has views over Puerto Galera’s natural harbor and the Verde Island Passage. A good alternative place to visit if you do not have much money or time as Boracay is more high-end and expensive.

The diving generally focuses on the area side of Escarceo Point were the marine life is so diverse that more than 180 plus species of nudibranchs can be found and some new species of fish as well.

Wrecks of sunken Japanese ships from WWII were also a tourist diving destination too in Puerto Galera.

Central Mindoro generally has areas that have some unexplored mountain ranges just behind the beaches. A local attraction is the 9-hole golf course located on the hillside above White Beach.

Talipanan Beach is a very quiet and secluded beach. It is as beautiful as the white beach. Located 15 to 20 minutes away from Badladz dive resort at Muelle Pier, the main tourist pier in Puerto Galera. The beach itself has very pristine white sand, long beach line, crystal clear blue water with a perfect panoramic view and is much more relaxing because of the quieter surrounding.

Aninuan Beach was the next popular to White beach because of it’s quieter, less crowded than other beach and it provides relaxation for tourist. Perfect for Family reunions and romantic getaways.

Best place for honeymooners and dating couples. The Beach has a thin layer of small cobbles in the swash zone. View of the place is scenic especially  sunset hours while during the day you will enjoy the beautiful lush backdrop of Mt.Malasimbo. This beach is just two minutes drive away from the white beach. Aside from the many beautiful beaches that you can find in  Puerto Galera, there are also other places you can go and visit in just around of Oriental Mindoro if you like to explore an have adventures.

There are plenty of natural waterfalls around the areas which are perfect for hikes.

Tamaraw Falls is one of many natural wonders of Mindoro, near the city of San Teodoro, Oriental Mindoro. It is named after the Mindoro Dwarf Buffalo called Tamaraw which is native only in the island of Mindoro. The waterfalls are combined with Smaller and Larger falls that flow down to the mountains.

Aninuan Falls is a nice waterfall in the mountains of Oriental Mindoro. A nice and quiet place good for swimming or relaxing away from a very crowded tourist spot. The waterfall is actually smaller, not as majestic as the bigger waterfalls you might have seen but going in there is really amazing because of its tricky treks along the way. There are two types of the trek for you to choose. A trek in the river and the bigger path with a magnificent overlooking view of the sea.

Talipanan Falls is a nice place beautiful nature and is located in Sitio Talipanan, Abra De Ilog, Oriental Mindoro. It is around 40 minutes hike from the given location and you have to tread across water and slippery surfaces. It is not a very straightforward path. The trek is through the Mangyan village on the other side of the road. It is a very good place to spend the day, magnificent exhibition halls, in an environment of tropical vegetation and good and cheap restaurants. Cradled by the nature with a splendid feel of bathing in cool, crystal clear fresh waters and getting natural massages can be experienced in this magnificent waterfall.
